Probate

Knowing that your affairs are well looked after following your death is very reassuring for both you and your family. A grant of probate is a legal document from the court which confirms your executors authority to deal with your property, money and possessions after your death. It will enable them to access funds, settle finances and ultimately collect and share out your assets in accordance with the wishes set out in your will.

If you die leaving a will, your executors will apply for a grant of probate. If you die without a will, a close relative can apply to the probate registry to obtain a grant of letters of administration.
