Philip Elliott

I qualified as a solicitor in 1996 and have specialised in family law ever since. I head the family law department of Sharman Law.

I have considerable experience of acting for clients in respect of the financial issues arising from divorce and separation including acting for clients of high net worth. I am also experienced in the law relating to children, domestic violence and cohabitee disputes. My experience in this field is recognised by the fact that The Law Society has appointed me to be a member of the advanced tier of the Family Law Accreditation Scheme.

I am a member of Resolution (previously the Solicitors Family Law Association) which is a body which encourages individuals to reach agreement through compromise and negotiation. This helps to avoid conflict and also keeps the costs down for the client.

I have also been accredited by Resolution in respect of the financial issues arising from the breakdown of a marriage or other relationship.

I am also a fully qualified collaborative lawyer. This is a relatively new concept in family law which builds upon the principles of compromise referred to above in order to achieve a fair solution for all. For more information on Collaborative Law in the local area, please visit :

My leisure interests include the fact that I am an active member of the local Inter-varsity club.
