We have five Notaries in all, at our Bedford and Ampthill offices, available to provide a full range of Notarial Services for you.

WHAT IS A NOTARY?
A Notary is a qualified lawyer - a member of the third and oldest branch of the legal profession in the United Kingdom. They are appointed by the Archbishop of Canterbury and are subject to regulation by the Court of Faculties.

WHAT DOES A NOTARY DO?
A Notary usually deals with the preparation and authentication of documents for use abroad. Notaries are recognised internationally, although for historical reasons, they play a lesser role in United Kingdom domestic matters. They also have all the powers of a Solicitor, other than the conduct of litigation.

GETTING READY TO SEE A NOTARY?
Each case will be different, but usually the Notary will:

WHAT DOES IT COST?
The fee will be based upon how much time it is necessary to spend on your matter.

Where only one visit to the Notary is required, it is expected that you will pay the Notary's fee at the time you visit.
