Cohabitation

Not all separations relate to married couples. We also deal with the separation of unmarried couples and resolving their financial issues and issues in respect of children.

We frequently encounter the belief amongst couples that the concept of common-law spouse exists. It does not! For this reason, it is advisable to enter into a Cohabitation Agreement which will define how financial matters between you will be dealt with. If you are purchasing a property together then this should be done in conjunction with a Declaration of Trust being drawn up.

It is important for cohabitees who are considering splitting up to obtain legal advice sooner rather than later.
