This page contains information about on the corporate responsibility of Sharman Law.
We recognise the importance of maintaining a high profile within the Bedford and Ampthill communities, as these are the areas from which the majority of our Clients are drawn.
We recognise the importance of supporting local charities, including Keech Hospice Care in Bedfordshire, St John’s Hospice at Moggerhanger, the MS Therapy Centre in Bedfordshire, the Alzheimer’s Society of Bedford, the Bedford Daycare Hospice, the Headway Charity and the Bedford Hospital Challenge Cancer appeal.
For the last few years staff have supported the ‘Wear it Pink’ day in aid of breast cancer support and ‘Wear it Red’ day in support of the British Heart Foundation. At Christmas the partners and many of the staff chose to make a donation to chosen charities rather than send Christmas Cards. We also participate in the ‘Christmas Jumper Day’ in aid of Save the Children.
This year, we took part in a number of charity fund raising events. In May, some of our staff and partners hiked over 20 miles around Glyders Loop in Wales as part of the LawNet Challenge and raised £2,730 in aid of the Bedford Hospital Charity. In September, a few members of staff participated in the Starlight Walk and raised £270 in aid of St John’s Hospice, Moggerhanger. We also hosted a Charity Golf Day at Pavenham Golf course for the benefit of Headway Bedford which was very successful, raising a total of £2,600.
We always give consideration to charitable support and donations, and will continue to exercise our discretion in favour of local charities as circumstances dictate.
We are aware of our social responsibility towards the environment and our firm aims to reduce our corporate carbon emissions. All our non-confidential waste is recycled if it is comprised of recyclable materials. Every effort has been made to use as little paper as possible. The Staff are instructed to use recycled paper whenever appropriate and electronic versions of forms are used whenever possible to minimise paper consumption.
